Human Development Index<\/a>\u00a0(HDI) on the y-axis. It shows one piece of good news: The quality of life is improving around the world, as measured by HDI,\u00a0a composite index based on education, longevity, and income. A score of 0.7 is &#8220;high human development.&#8221; However, the graph also shows that as HDI increases, so does the Ecological Footprint per person.\u00a0<em>(Click the play button in the lower left corner.
