Anchored in a context where economic issues often take precedence over longer-term environmental problems, these debates have contributed to bring<strong>\u00a0the notion of strong sustainability &#8211; the AFD 15th International Research Conference flagship topic &#8211; back to the spotlight.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The conference\u2019s multidisciplinary program is designed around\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.afd.fr\/en\/ressources\/strong-sustainability-approach-development-trajectories\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">three principles<\/a>\u00a0of strong sustainability<\/strong>: non-substitutability between capitals, multidimensionality, and the social construct.
